Las Vegas Fire Department was established in 1942. The original Fire station 4 was located on Utah and Industrial, a very busy, old- school firehouse. They moved to their current location in 1989, in the Mayfair neighborhood, and are adjacent to the historic, Huntridge Theater, and Fremont Street in Downtown.
Firehouse 4 houses one Engine (E4), two rescues (R4 and R204, these are fire-based ambulances) and ILS4 (a pickup truck that responds to low priority incidents). Firehouse 4 is home to the busiest units in the LVFD; E4 is the busiest unit overall and makes the most first-in fires out of all apparatus.
This firehouse is situated right in the heart of the original downtown Las Vegas neighborhoods, and has a mix of conventional residential, low income multifamily, commercial, mid to high-rise residences and casinos, big box, industrial, and rail. they are the epicenter for OD calls and are riddled with squatted-in buildings throughout our district. It is not uncommon to have an occupied and relatively well-kept Single-family dwelling and a boarded-up house next to it, making responses unique. Each week we average about 5 working building fires and make about 60 fire responses total including alarms, outside fires, vehicles, etc.
